COOKIE POLICY

Aida Communication – Cookie Policy

Welcome to:
How Aida Communication Uses Cookies.

Like the majority of the websites, Aida Communication
websites, blogs and platforms (“Websites”) use tiny
text files called cookies.

This Cookie Policy is meant to help you understand
what cookies are, which ones are used by our Websites
and how you can manage them.

We strive to keep it very simple, but if you are not
familiar with terms like browser, URL, feed and domain,
then read about these key terms first.

In section “7” of this Cookie Policy, you will also find
some useful definitions.

1. What are cookies?

A cookie is a small piece of text sent to your browser by
a website you visit, which gets saved on your
computer, tablet or mobile phone (“Device”).

Every time you visit that website, the cookie gets sent
back to it or to another website which recognizes that
cookie.

Cookies are largely used because they allow a website
to recognize your Device and save information (such as
your preferred language and other settings), to provide
you with more functionalities, make your next visit
easier, enhance your experience and make the website
more useful to you.

Cookies play an important role.

Without them, using the web would be a much more
limited and frustrating experience.

2. Are cookies dangerous?

No. Cookies are small pieces of text.
They are not computer programs: they cannot be
executed as code or used to disseminate viruses.
In addition, browsers allow you to manage them (see section “6”).

3. Can cookies threaten your privacy?

Cookies are stored on the Device’s hard drive, but they
cannot access it – so a cookie cannot read other
information saved on your hard drive. They only
contain and transfer as much information as you
yourself have disclosed to a certain website.
There are different kinds of cookies (see section “7”)
and the following sections explain in more details what
they are and what we use them for.

4. How do our Websites use cookies?

Our Websites use cookies for their technical
functioning, gathering statistics, showing relevant
information and ultimately providing a more
personalised experience to our visitors.

For example:

    • To compile statistical data on the use of our
      Websites and their functioning

to be able to monitor them and improve them.
    • To make the navigation easier for the visitors
      of our Websites.

For example, to help users ‘sign up’ and smoothly
access the protected areas reserved to them, and
to remember their settings and preferences.
    • To show more relevant and useful
information, news and ads to the visitors of
      our Websites.
    • To share our web pages and content through
      the social media platforms.

5. What cookies are used by our Websites?

In section “11” of this Cookie Policy, you will find a list
of the cookies used by our Websites with the
description of their purpose.

6. How can you manage cookies?

If you do not wish to get cookies, you may set your
browser to restrict or block them. You can also delete
them later on (to do so, please refer to the help and
instructions of your browser or website like:
www.aboutcookies.org and www.allaboutcookies.org).

Additionally, you can easily opt-out of interest-based
advertising with the free, online tools offered in
websites like: Nai Consumer Optout, Your Online Choices
and Your Ad Choices, which will show you the
cookies and similar technologies currently in use on
your browser, and allow you to opt-out of these.

However, keep in mind that if you disable the cookies,
most websites, including ours, do not function properly
and you will not be able to take advantage of all the
interactive features and support they offer.

7. Definitions

Session cookies

Session cookies are set to remember and link your
actions, while you browse from one web page to
another during a browser session – for example, after
you logged into a reserved area or when you are
choosing items in a catalogue and put them in your
shopping basket.

A browser session starts when you open the browser
window and finishes when you close the browser
window.

Session cookies are created temporarily.
When you close the browser, all session cookies are
automatically deleted.

Persistent cookies

Persistent cookies are saved on your Device for the
length of time specified in the cookie and are not
deleted automatically when you close your browser.
They get activated every time you visit the website
which created them.

They are generally employed for statistical purposes
and to analyse the use of the website by the visitors.
They can also retain your preferences for your future
visits, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them
whenever you come back to a website.

First-party cookies

First-party cookies are set by the website you are
visiting in that moment: the domain displayed in the
URL bar. Only that website can read them.

Third-party cookies

Third-party cookies originate from a domain that is
different from the website you are visiting.

8. Third-party cookies:
other domains’ and social media cookies

In our Websites, there may be external links (i.e. links
to websites other than our domains) – such as links to
Wikipedia, social media pages, videos on YouTube or to
any other company’s, organisation’s or personal blog,
podcast and website.

Aida Communication and its partners are active on social
media platforms (such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
and LinkedIn). Our presence in the social media
communities strengthens our online presence and
visibility.

For this reason, our Websites may include social media
features and widgets such as Facebook “Like” buttons,
Twitter feeds, LinkedIn buttons, YouTube videos or
links to our and someone else’s social pages and
channels.

Our Websites do not set cookies with the display of
social media features and widgets.

However, if you take action and share any content on
our Websites through social media (for example, by
clicking a YouTube or Facebook “like” button or a
“Tweet” button, by sharing a video or a post, or by
making a comment on them), you may be sent cookies
from these networks. Your interactions with their
features and widgets are governed by their individual
privacy policies.

Alike, if you view or listen to any audio or video content
embedded in our Websites (for example, from YouTube
or a third-party podcast), you may be sent cookies
from the website where that embedded content is
originally hosted.

Ultimately, when you click on any external link from our
Websites, you will be re-directed to their platforms or
websites, which have their own cookie and privacy
policies.

We do not have control over how third parties use their
cookies or similar technologies and we are not
responsible for them, so we suggest you check their
privacy and cookie policies to see how they are using
them and how you can manage them.

9. Google Analytics cookies

For statistical purposes, our Websites may use Google
Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google.

For more information, please refer to their security and
privacy principles and our “Google Analytics Disclaimer”
which explains its use of cookies.

You can also prevent its collection of data with the
Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, if you wish.

10. Other tracking technologies

From time to time, we and our third-party partners
may use other tracking technologies similar to cookies
– like web beacons and pixels (or “clear gifs”). These
are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier
that enable us to recognise when someone has visited
our Websites or, in the case of web beacons, opened an
email that we have sent them (for example, through
Mailchimp – privacy policy).

While you may not have the ability to specifically reject
or disable these tracking technologies, in many
instances, they are reliant on cookies to function
properly, so declining cookies (see section “6”) will
impair them.

As with third-party cookies, we do not have control
over how third parties use similar tracking technologies
and we are not responsible for them, so we suggest
you check their privacy and cookie policies to see how
they are using them and how you can manage them.

You can also easily opt-out of interest-based
advertising with the free, online tools offered in
websites like: Nai Consumer Optout, Your Online
Choices and Your Ad Choices.

However, please note that if you choose to opt out, you
will not necessarily see fewer ads and the ads you see
may be less relevant to you since they will not be
tailored to your interests.
